Your cart is empty.This sheath is designed specifically and exactly for the Gransfors Bruks (or Bruk) Outdoor Axe. It is made out of raw cowhide, stained, and later treated with Neatsfoot oil. The sheath is handmade in Spokane, Washington. The construction of the sheath starts with three pieces of leather: the main body of the sheath, the securing strap and the welt. The main body is folded over a welt that is inserted into between the two folded halfs which prevents the blade of the inserted axe from cutting the stitch that is placed to hold the sheath together. The sheath is then hand stitched and rivets are placed at the corners to reinforce the body. The axe head blade, when placed in the sheath, is prevented from touching the rivets because of the welt. The retention strap is then secured with a rivet and a snap is added for easy on/off action. This sheath is built to last, and quality hand made in the USA (Spokane, Washington). Finish to the edges of the leather is applied for aesthetic appeal. Color may vary from the images shown but will generally be brown. I purchased this sheath for my Bruks outdoor axe. It looks great on the shelf and seems well made, but it will not hold up in the field. I barely use my Outdoor axe. I carried it twice on thru-hikes, and the bottom rivet came undone/cut through. The axe head does not have a secure fit in the sheath anymore. I contacted the company to see if I could get it repaired/replaced... crickets. I will not be purchasing more of their sheaths for my Bruks collection.
