Firmware Upgrade
You can use "Zhiyun Gimbal Tools" or "ZY Play" App to upgrade the firmware of CRANE-M2 S.
1. Connect the Type-C charging/firmware upgrade port to the computer with the USB Type-C cable, power on CRANE-M2 S, and enter standby mode.
2. Visit the official website of ZHIYUN, go to the CRANE-M2 S product page, click "Download", find the USB driver, the ZHIYUN calibration upgrade tool and the firmware and download. (USB drivers are not required for Mac OS systems)
3. Install the driver and the software, unzip the firmware for the files with the ".ptz" file extension.
4. Open "Zhiyun Gimbal Tools", select the corresponding port, click "Open", click "Firmware Upgrade". Click "Browse" under "Path" to select the latest firmware downloaded (with the ".ptz" file extension), and click "Upgrade" at the bottom to upgrade firmware. When the firmware upgrade finishes, CRANE-M2 S will be automatically turned off.
Six-side Calibration
Method 1: Six-side calibration via APP： According to the method introduced in "How to Use the App", please connect the gimbal to the APP, and enter "Settings"- "Six-side Calibration", then conduct the six-side calibration according to the prompt.
Method 2: Six-side calibration via "Zhiyun Gimbal Tools": Power on the gimbal and enter standby mode. Connect the charging/firmware upgrade port of the gimbal to the computer with the Type-C USB cable, Open "Zhiyun Gimbal Tools", click "open" on the top and click "calibration" on the bottom. Please conduct the process according to the following steps. A " √ " mark will appear after the calibration is complete.

1. Gimbal power on with vibration?
a. lf the motor torque is too low/high for the payload, the camera will shakeand affect the gimbal performance. Please choose proper motor torque.
b. lt is recommended to use auto-calibration. If the gimbal is not yet inthe ideal state after the auto-calibration, you can use the customized adjustment or choose the level of the motor torque to be high/medium/low.
c. When the camera lens is changed, please balance the gimbal again and adjust the motor torque with the methods above.
2. Can we connect Crane M2S with APP to control photo and starting/stop video?
No, Crane M2S only provides stabilization for mobile phones. Button controls are not supported.
3. The M2S gimbal does not hold the weight of your camera?
Please understand this portable gimbal is only designed for lightweight mirrorless cameras and lens. Therefore the power of the motor is limited and in order to get best performance, please make sure to balance the camera properly before power on the gimbal. If you need help, please check the video tutorial of balancing in the last one of images section this page above or you can contact seller for help of balancing.
4. Check compatibility with your device?
The gimbal is only designed for lightweight cameras and leses. Before placing order, please contact seller for full compatibility list for both camera and lens model, in case buying the wrong item.
5. Does Crane M2S gimbal support APP control?
No, this gimbal does NOT support APP control. There is an APP called “ZY Cami” but it’s only designed for smartphone gimbals from ZHIYUN. While this model is a all-in-one type and support smartphone as well, but it’s mainly designed for lightweight cameras. It does NOT support app control. But after connected by control cable, you can control the camera by gimbal panel.
6. Gimbal gets hot after usage?
It’s usually because the motor is overloaded therefore gets hot rather quick. To take stress off the gimbal motor, the camera must be properly balanced before power on and use the gimbal.

I ordered the Crane M2S to use my GoPro (Hero 9) more creatively in more places. It certainly does do that, but it has even more features that I would like to use with a small camera. This device is a functional combination of features in a lightweight but sturdy design. It is light enough that I plan to teach my 9-year-old granddaughters to use it.Adding a small camera would allow me to not only use more features of the gimbal, but to also use more features of the included software, ZY Play.The Crane is simiple and fun. I especially like being able to do a 180-degree panoramic view with the trigger. The vortex view is also fun. A click of the Mode button turns the lens toward the sky, or toward the ground if you invert the handle, or anywhere in between. You can add a smooth swivel right or left with the thumb joystick.The foam case is compact and sturdy. It will protect the gimbal in a backpack or a suitcase. The quick disconnect is helpful. I didn’t think I’d use it because I was only using one camera. Then the GoPro needed to be charged and the quick disconnect made a lot of sense.Photographic technology, in my view, seems to be evolving in step with computer technology. With this device, the photographer can respond nimbly to record special moments and experiences. Then the photographer can transform the video using computer technology to create even more sophisticated memories or documentation or whatever expression the photographer desires.If you are planning to use a GoPro, note that the GoPro requires a tripod adapter to attach to the gimbal. While I had a number of accessories, I didn’t have that one, so ordered it after I received my initial order. While I waited for the adapter, I experimented with my smartphone (Galaxy S22 Ultra) on the gimbal. I had a problem with my phone overheating. This was not my first overheating event. I see that other users have had overheating problems with this model phone. I will troubleshoot this situation further and update my review if I find a solution. Of interest, the ZY Play software alerted me to the overheating situation and asked me to disconnect the devices.
