Replaced carb and plug, didn’t fix so I bought this. Replacement was fairly easy (using the correct air gap spacing using business card - as mentioned on a couple of YouTube videos)Now the mower starts on first pull every time and runs smooth, even when hot.

Ordered this coil and installed it easily. Did not cure my problem of "no spark". Very weak spark when cranking the mower engine. Have spent lots of time trouble shooting, asking others what my problem could be. So far engine is not running. Am stumped. Just not sure if the coil is bad or something else is hidden.

Bolt holes not the same size. Does not allow any room to adjust the clearance/gap.Had to return it.

I inherited a broken Toro 22'' Recycler push mower (20016) from my parents that did not start. I replaced a cracked crankcase breather and ended up getting a new carburetor because the old carb needed cleaning and gaskets, and a new carb was only $20. After doing all that it still wouldn't start and so I checked for spark and there was none. Testing the coil yielded the correct value of 2.8 kiloohms. I checked the grounds and cleaned everything up and still couldn't get spark out of it, so I bought this one.I just chucked the new coil on and it now has spark! The coil itself is visually different than the OEM but it fits correctly and the thing should run now. Very pleased with the availability and price. We'll see how long this one lasts.

I bought this coil after buying a new carb and finding out my coil was bad. Watch YouTube video's to learn how to test your coil. You will need a volt meter but it is easy to do. If your mower is old you will probably need one anyway. Carefully note how your coil is attached so when you remove it you will remember how to put the new one on. The main trick when you install the new one is to use a 0.010 inch feeler gage between the coil and the flywheel. Work slowly back-and-forth between the two sides as they are magnets. Do one side first and slightly tighten the screw/bolt. Then do the other side the same way. Or you can insert 2 thin business cards on each side between the coil and flywheel and tighten it down. The new coil was the last part I needed to get my mower to run. If I was to do it again, I would buy the $25 kit that has the carb, coil, gas and air filters.
