I occasionally use these types of fasteners in break-down woodworking (i.e., threaded inserts), so these caught my eye as a similar option for metal applications. I don't expect a ton of applications to come up, but when they do, these should be a handy option.Two caveats of note: First, they have only zinc-plated "corrosion resistance," so I wouldn't use them in outdoor applications. Second, the rivet insert design makes their installation inherently less rigid. (A similar fastener screwed on from behind could be tightened down enough to prevent twisting or movement, while rivet clamping cannot. This limits how much torque can be applied to the mating screw.)

These are seemingly good rivnuts, with a long grip, the good zinc finish, and properly knurled in the right places. I've never seen or used "multi-grip" rivnuts before - I'm not sure if my believe regarding what "multi grip" means is mistaken, or if these are mis-identified, or what ...

this product is not 1/4-20 as advertised. I use my plusnut mandrel on 1/4-20 all the time... My tool did not fit in those plusnuts.

Although these are called rivets, you really don't need to compress them in many cases. I use them for woodworking - just drill a tight hole and press them in for a no show 1/4-20 bolt.Hundreds of uses when a nut just isn't attractive or you have zero clearance.

Bought to use on insulated walk in freezer walls. Machine screws were stripping out and became useless. Drilled the hole out and used insert worked perfectly.
