These worked great to attach my new hurricane ties to my 6x6 and 4x6 posts. Since they are rated for this, they are up to code.

Ordered these: 6 inch Black Wood Screws, Heavy Duty Construction Screw, Rust Resistant, Washer Head,Black Ceramic Coated Exterior Wood/Lag/Timber Screws, T30 Star Drive with Bit -- to use in my garden with some 4x4 raised beds that could use some heftier screws to re-enforce the construction. These screws arrived in a brown box with no branding or product information and the box pretty torn up. They are thinner with lower quality threads and metal than the ones you get in the hardware store that have torque and load ratings. Those are much much more expensive though but may be the way to go if you are building something that is going to have significant load on it like a raised deck. As with all construction you can opt for cheaper made non listed products at your own risk. The coating is also not substantial, due to the screws banging around you can see where it is scraped away. Rather than being a thick coating it does appear to be like a thin paint. They work, for my purposes they are perfect and will outlast the wood in contact with the ground at a much more economical rate. I don't need load rated screws for garden boxes. Lots of these available on Amazon from various sellers, be sure to get the best deal when you order.

I use these screws a lot for deck assemblies. They join multiple framing members tightly and securely, as well as posts for support and railings. The aggressive threads bite well in pressure treated lumber. The black coating looks good when used as surface mounted screws. The screws come with a good quality T30 bit.

I use lots of timber screws. When you buy them at a big box store, they can cost about a buck each. So, when I saw the price on these, I was eager to give them a try. They come with a bit that fits well. They drive and perform as expected. You will need a strong impact driver to install these. My 20V DeWalt does the trick, but keep the batteries on charge if you need to drive many of them. The coating seems adequate enough, but the packaging is less than. The box did not survive the trip, but I did not order them for the box anyway! Nice value for the price!

These screws are animals! They will lock together 4x4 landscaping timbers like no one's business! The large gead keeps them from pulling into the wood, and the aggressive thread whick only extends 2" means that you can clear one side of the timber, and start biting into the piece you're securing to so they pull together tightly.Super impressed! You need a heck of a driver though if you're screwing into wet timber!MY 20V Dewalt did it, but it was not happy!

These are 6" long I would say #14 wood/timber screws. They are very thick, have a self tapping/cutting tip and a black coating. The listing says they are ceramic coated but I have no way of testing that. Regardless of what the coating is time will tell how it holds up. A nice #30 Torx bit is included and it fits the head of the screws perfectly. As a test I ran one of these into a 8 X 8 hunk of oak with a 1/4" DeWalt impact. It went in all the way with no issues and the DeWalt struggled a little but got it done. I was able to back it fully out with no breakage.I am going to use these to attach some new framing (of modern 2X lumber) to an old barn timber framed out of oak. I fully expect these to perform and get the job done. One comment on the packaging - the box was a little inadequate and pretty beat up. This does not hurt the product at all but the seller may want to look at upgrading packaging.

These are an economical choice for 4x4 post construction. These 6" screws come 50 to a box, and include an impact quality T30 star bit in the set. They are a bit thinner than some other offerings, so I would use 2 in my projects to be safe. I am not sure of the material they are made from so I cannot attest as to their overall strength. I do like blackened coating and self tapping tip, so no pilot holes need be drilled. These must be drilled in with an impact drill, as a regular drill will have a hard time going all the way in.

When working with 4X4s, you sometimes need a 6" screw, and this might be it. Carbon steel, ceramic coated, lager size T30 Torx head, bit supplied. I tested one by driving it into the side of a piece of 2X12. It defeated the first drill I tried, an older 18V model, but my newer 20V brushless drill coped, just barely. I have a feeling that, as the battery drains, it might do less well. I'm pretty sure that, if I am doing a lot of them, I'll resort to a 15 amp plug-in drill. This is a rather extreme screw for an extreme application and will be a challenge to my machinery.
