This lens is relatively inexpensive as far as Sony E mount lenses go. This is my first non-Sony GM lens and I think it feels great. Sure the Sony GM lenses have great optical qualities, but they are also much more expensive that these lenses. They are also made from some sort of hybrid of materials where it's a mix of metal, plastic, and glass. This 7 artisans lens is pretty much all metal and glass, and feels very substantial. I don't think it would have a problem if you accidentally dropped it, although that is dependent on a bunch of criteria. As far as image quality, I couldn't ask for much better at this price point. This hopefully will not be my last 7artisans lens!

This is insane value for a cinema lens. I am using the 35mm 7-Artisan lens. This lens offers a great balance of price vs. performance, making it a great choice for photographers or videographers who want a versatile prime lens without breaking the bank.Build Quality: The metal construction feels sturdy and well-built, with a nice heft that gives it a premium feel. It could take a few drops because it is built like a tank! The focus ring is super smooth and responsive, making it easy to achieve precise focus manually.Image Quality: For the price, the image quality is impressive. It delivers sharp images with good contrast and a pleasant bokeh effect, especially when shooting wide open. It’s great for low-light situations being a T2.1 and creates a nice, shallow depth of field. (blurry background)Cons:Manual focus only. This lens is fully manual, which might be a downside for some. It takes a bit of practice to get used to focusing manually, especially wide open at 2.1 but it also allows for more creative control. There is some noticeable chromatic aberration, especially in high-contrast scenes, but it is minimal, and it’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s something to be aware of.When shooting wide open, it can be challenging to nail focus, especially with moving subjects. However, with practice, this becomes less of an issue.Lens flares are visible, but they look fine, in my opinion, like other lens I own from Sony.Overall, the 7-Artisans 35mm lens offers excellent value for money. It has a lot of character and great contrast. It’s not perfect, but for the price point, it’s a fantastic option that can produce beautiful images and videos. If you’re willing to work with manual focus, this lens is a solid addition to your camera bag. I rate this 5 stars due to the value this offers for a low cost.
