D -- 1 x TDC Locating Locking Pin

E -- 1 x 3/8" Drive Camshaft Adjuster Socket

Operation:

a. Rotate the crankshaft in a clockwise direction until the camshaft lobes at number 3 and 4 cylinders are angled upwards.

Fit the camshaft Locking Tools B over the camshaft lobes on cylinder numbers 3 and 4.

C

Gently rock the Crankshaft until the tools can be fitted snugly and tightened in position using the integral adjuster.

Remove the blanking plug from the cylinder block position rear left hand side and replace with the Crankshaft Locking TDC Locating Locking Pin.

b. Remove the centre blanking cap and circlip from each camshaft sprocket and slightly slacken the centre bolt.

Using an 8mm Hex Key turn the Tensioner Pulley anti-clockwise until the holes in both Tensioner Body and Pushrod are aligned and retain in this position with the Tensioning Pin D.

Once the Tensioner Pulley Bolt has been slackened the Timing Belt can be removed.

During the installation of the new timing belt it is necessary to turn the Camshaft Sprockets using Camshaft Adjuster Socket with a torque of 10 Nm.

After tightening each Camshaft Sprocket Bolt the Blanking Caps can be re-fitted with the circlips to retain.

B

c. The Camshaft and Crankshaft Locking Tools should be removed and the final installation procedure followed.

Support Guides (Optional Set) can be used to slide the front panel forward to provide additional working space.

Remove Timing Belt covers and rear engine cover and move the coolant expansion tank to one side, it is unnecessary to disconnect the hoses.

2003 Audi A6 3.0 NA. Had to modify the cam locks with a grinder. The width and angle were wrong. Coeccentric pulley wrench barely worked with help from a hammer to force into holes. Crank lock pin worked fine. Be prepared to put in labor for the money you save on the tools.

The clamps did fit my daughter's 2006 A4 3.0 Quattro Cabriolet and are a huge help in setting the timing belt on this engine. Part of the belt installation calls for loosening the sprockets from the cam shaft as you place and tighten the belt, so any timing marks you try to guide with can quickly become unreliable, which makes locking the cams and crank in place so critical. As others frequently comment, the 2-pin wrench for the eccentric pulley is too widely spaced, so I ignored it and just used some bent-tip pliers.I was having trouble with the cam socket until I realized that the sprockets on this engine only have double-notches on the exhaust gears (with single bumps on the intake ones), so the socket worked well where it seems intended to fit.

The tensioner bar is not built correctly - spacing between tangs that engage the pulley was off. Cam advance socket similarly has problems with engaging the cam pulley adjuster. If you like bending and modifying tools to get them to work -this tool kit is for you. Overall, not a very good compromise between overpriced professionally built tools and cheap Chinese junk that doesn't even work. Could be better.

Crankshaft pin was to short and would not hold the crank even slightly. Cam tools were almost unusable as well... they were just able to work(they were very tight when fitting onto the camshaft) tensioner tool teeth were too wide and made nearly useless. The cam socket was definitely useless.Dont waste your money and purchase a better tool so you can actually do the job without hassle.

This is a tool that I most likely won't be using a lot so I was very happy to find an inexpensive version online. The quality of the tool seems to be very nice. I have not yet used it but I'm sure it will work fine.
