About this item

  • 9 inch long safety wire pliers with automatic spring return
  • Serrated ,self locking jaws will hold wire firmly when twisting.
  • Locking lever is easily pulled down and clamps the jaws shut, reducing strain on your hand.
  • Can be used with stainless steel safety wire up to 0.041". Also works well with brass and inconel safety wire.
  • To use: firmly grip a length of safety wire in the jaws and slide the silver latch backward until it locks the jaws closed. Grip the knob at the back of the pliers and let go of the plier handles. Pull backwards on the knob. As you do, the pliers will begin to spin, twisting the wire as it rotates. To open the jaws and release the wire, squeeze the handles together. The silver latch will slide forward, and the pliers will open.

I had purchased an economy tool from another vendor and it failed after about 20 or 30 uses. These cost a bit more but operate smoother and look like they will stand up well.

Probably fine for aircraft safety wire. Not useable with 16ga rebar tiewire. One end always slips right out of the jaws. Also, the jaws are beveled, which I hadn't noticed.
