I still have the smaller bits but the bigger ones are gone and broken. For light woodwork and diy, they work great. They look durable but after boring holes on the way and projects, they just broke.I got it cheap back then so that is fine but for future I will try rated heavy duty ones.

Fantastic value! You will not easily find the sizes larger than 1", which I needed for installing USB outlets in my boat. Very handy to have and I love the case to keep them all together.

This review is for the Black & Decker 71-536 1/4-Inch to 1-1/2-Inch Spade Drill Bit Kit.I've purchased two of these, one for my 'drill kit' and the other to keep near my drill press.Although some other reviewers have found 'run out' in some of the bits, that's not been my finding. However, you should keep in mind that these are by no means a top of the line set. If you purchase this item I would recommend that you test each bit before the window to return the item closes. These are, to me, good to have on hand for occasional use and are priced accordingly. The entire pack costs less than one of my "good" Titanium drill bits.I'd also recommend that, wherever possible, you use a sacrifical piece of wood on the backside of the work. This eliminates the splintering of the wood as the bit bores completely through. The sacrificial board takes the abuse. Note that the work and the sacrificial wood must be tightly held together - videos are available on the internet that show how to do that procedure. The alternative is to bore nearly completely through the work and then move the bit to the other side and complete the job using the pilot hole as a guide. Otherwise the work tends to splinter on the exit of the bit. YMMV.I rate this kit with five stars not because they are necessarily a terrific tool investment, but because I've found them effective and, given the price point, when they fail they are cheap enough to replace. If you need something that you will hand down to your descendants you will probably need to look elsewhere.HTHRegards,Jim

I love getting cases with my tools for the simple fact that I usually end up traveling with the tools. This case is really durable and holds the bits firm, it has tabs on the outside to keep the bits from falling out or puncturing other things. It rolls up really compact and takes up very little room in my 18 volt combo bag.The bits them selves are made by black an decker and is exactly what you would expect from a company with their reputation, I learned my lesson a long time ago on bits and will never order off brands again.I highly recommend these for the simple fact that I am almost positive that even once these bits start to dull I will replace them individually and keep using the case...

this is a great spade bit set and I am happy to have such a variety of sizes all in one set. the blades are sharp and have been consistently reliable and durable through a number of house projects and homeowner use. I was pleased with the price paid and the quality of the item. the case rolls up nicely for easy transportation and to prevent the bits from falling out and it also protects from getting poked by one of the bits while moving the set. works very well and is a high quality item.

I needed to drill a 1-3/8 hole in a fiberglass boat but when I went to purchase a hole cutter I found that size difficult to find and when I did eventually find one it was very expensive for a tool I would probably use only once. Saw this set with the size I needed and bought it. Did a nice job and now I have a set of bits for the more frequent use I have for drilling through wood. I know from past experience that these are not long lasting bits but if, like me, you have only the occasional need for drilling holes these are a bargain.

These are good bits, in a good holder. While not industrial quality, the bits work well, and seem more than sturdy enough for average homeowner use.The storage roll may be a bigger selling point, than the bits themselves. Finally, someone realized that those cheap vinyl tool rolls that crack and let things fall out of them right away, are not much better than nothing at all. This is a sturdy roll up pouch, with an elastic band to hold every bit in place, and a protective strip to keep the bits sharp, and not let them poke through under normal circumstances. The pouch itself seems to be either fairly heavy canvas, or Cordura, and should last a long time.

I really like this spade bit set. The bits are very sharp and work great. Included in this set are large spade bits that I have trouble finding (especially in sets). I know that they will eventually wear out, but after using one bit for five different projects it is still as sharp as it was in the beginning. The soft case is excellent. It rolls up easily and holds the bits securely. Also, the tips of the bits are protected by a layer of material on top and bottom. This keeps the bits from banging into one another as you roll them up and store them.
