Leaves smooth and even cuts, and the offest handle keeps your hand out of the way

I don't often need tin snips but when I do, I really do. When they are needed things like your wife's kitchen shears just ain't cut out for the job. These are big and sturdy. Able to cut pretty decently heavy gauge metal. I needed to do some quick patches on some equipment and these made short work of the heavy gauge aluminum siding I was using as patch material. They've been promoted to my new go-to pair in the toolbox.

I believe that this is a tool that I would only need to purchase once, and it will serve me well for the rest of my life. The fact that these tin snips are sturdy and constructed from forged steel of high quality makes them heavy duty and an excellent choice for cutting sheet metal. I have plenty of control over the tool because the handles are ergonomic and large enough to accommodate my hands. The fact that these snips are really sharp, and capable of cutting sheet metal up to 22 gauge is really impressive for a tool of this size. Overall, I am quite impressed with these tin snips, and I would strongly recommend them to everyone.

Fantastic snips! They definitely require a bit of strength, but they are very sharp and strong - I was even able to make a 3/4" straight cut into 16GA steel, but snipping that gauge is far beyond my capabilities. They'll prove quite hand snipping bits of metal and shaping thinner sheets - they are very smooth to operate too. They are very well made, and at ~$19 (time of writing) they are an excellent value.

I was thinking of something little like large scissors...noooo, these are BIG, really big. They are heavy duty and seem well made. They cut like nobody's business.

My oldest son works for a race team in the Mooresville, NC area and he swears by Hess for all of his sheet metal cutting and trimming. So, when I saw these, I knew I had to replace the old worn out pair I have in my toolbox with them. These are straight bladed long snips and are designed for longer straight cuts. And are also perfect for cutting straight notches. So, I do not have any major cutting projects in my near future, but I did cut up and piece of 10-gauge metal to get the feel of these snips. Because of the length of the handle making the test cuts I instantly noticed how almost effortless it was making the simple long cuts. And as expected (because they are Hess Snips) they cut very nice. And with the added coating on the handle, they feel great in my right hand. Believe it or not there is a color code for tin snips. Each color signifies a different direction that the snips are made to cut. Red snips cut left. Yellow snips cut straight or left and right. Green snips cut right. They just feel stout, and I know the longevity is not going to be a problem with these. Well worth it to have a set in your toolbox.
