I have an 8 string tenor I built myself. I've had difficulty finding a string set that had the tone I was looking for. This isn't exactly what I wanted but it's the closest thing.It has a the octave g and c and unison e and a.. I put the higher octave string on top and I ultimately used wound strings for the lower octave strings. I also put a brighter sounding string paired with the unison... I have tried these on their own and as well the Aquila LAVA series and just about every string manufacturer you can think of.. GHS does a really excellent job with thier sets and I think I will always have some in my gigbag. I still use D'addario as well but I no longer spend for Aquila anything... They just cost too much and don't last.
