My KitchenAid icemaker will function with or without a filter. I didn't know that, but the previous owners of our house left the icemaker running and we had buckets of ice before I realized there was no filter in the unit. Our water here is somewhat nasty... a strong chlorine odor and a musty taste. We drink filtered water and we noticed that our ice added an unpleasant smell and taste to our water glasses. That's what prompted me to check whether the filter had expired, and that's when I found I didn't even have one.So I searched for a filter for my icemaker and found this reasonably-priced unit (compared to the UNreasonable cost of an OEM KitchenAid filter!). Now our ice has no smell, and our icewater tastes as fresh as our filtered water should. The filter fit perfectly and is doing a noticeably fine job.I have no idea how it will compare in longevity to an OEM filter, but the difference in cost should make up for any shorter lifespan! Recommend.

Seems to work fine. It fit my Kitchenaid perfectly. I went back to order more but the price went from $9.99 to $19.99 in 1 day. I doubt Tariffs were involved so I will look elsewhere
