You definitely need two people to lift into place. We used a pulley system and a scaffold. I think they should design it to be able to take the stairs off easily because it is very heavy. Overall, pleased with the result. It gives us access to a small attic area that was needed and the clearance of the stairs is good enough that we shouldn’t have to move any furniture when it is used. Shipping was very expensive but we bought it from amazon just in case we had to return it.
