The craftsmen at J. LaSalle have developed the world's most sophisticated grading methods and testing apparatus for the production of fine, artist-quality bows and they use these on every bow that they manufacture—regardless of price. Every bow stick is graded for quality and physical beauty and then tested for stiffness and resiliency before being put into work. Each component of every bow—including the frog and winding screw—is meticulously weighed to ensure that the whole bow is perfectly balanced. Thus, the most uniform quality is achieved in every J. LaSalle bow that we sell. The same methods used by the finest European Bow Shops are now being used for the first time in bows at the most affordable price points designed for the youngest students. The result is a line of quality bows that will please the most discriminating teacher bows that are the finest ever offered for school and rental programs. Every J. LaSalle bow is made to the most exacting standards of quality and cannot fail to provide years of trouble-free service to the player.

The bow broke when I first tensioned it, before its first use. It broke at the tip; I saw in another product review a break at exactly the same place. I have been playing violin for thirty years, the amount of tension was not too strong, and the carbon fiber bow I bought afterwards at a local music store had no problem; neither had my son's first bow, which just was running out of hairs. After this experience I advise all parents who look at these product reviews not to buy a wooden bow in the 1/2 violin size; you just should notexpect anything useful for this price. In a few years my son will be ready for a real, full-sized bow, and that will cost around $500; so it was perhaps foolish to believe that you can get something similar for $50. Still:with my normal bow I never worried that it might break, a good wooden bow is quite strong.

Very good balance and worked well with my old fiddle. Brought out the sounds that I liked.

Very frustrated with this bow. Ordered twice because the first unit was poorly packaged and arrived with the tip broken off. The replacement arrived arched to one side. Camber and hair are OK, but the stick is so arched to the side that this looks like they sent us one from the pile of discarded units. We've decided to give up on this bow.We have orded another J. LaSalle model in the past in size 1/4 and it was flawless. For that reason we wanted to give this one a second chance, but it was very disappointing having this garbage delivered to us. If a beginner player does not know enough to realize that a bent bow can hinder playability, he/she will try to use it not knowing it will do more bad than good. Of course a good teacher will not let any student play with it.
