I have XXL hands and am very grateful to have stumbled upon these forceps. The finger and thumb holes are extra large and can easily fit my sausage fingers. The quality is very good. The hinge is well toleranced and the jaws snap closed firmly. My primary usage is for de-barbing hooks and they work very well for that. For the last month I've been tying flies for the upcoming spring season and using these forceps at the bench. Fantastic. Buy with confidence from Kingfisher. I have yet to be disappointed with any of their products and these forceps are no exception.

Another win from Kingfisher, these hemostats were precisely what I needed during the winter months where I am trying to fish with gloves on. I already have fat greasy gorilla fingers, so I think these will likely become my daily driver. Function was as expected, zero complaints here, and I like that the two-tone effect is achieved without having to dip the tool.

I needed a set of forceps. I'm used to medical forceps and these seemed pretty close. The quality seems solid and excellent. The forceps have more than enough space for fingers. Operation is smooth without pinching what your clamping. The ratchet gears are easy to engage and release. The jaws have a slight bend toward the tip, so they flat portion of the jaws clamp tightly at the tip and leave some gap along the teeth portion of the jaws farther toward the handle-side end. Other than that, I guess the only difference from medical forceps is the pin on the inside of the joint . Not sure its purpose. Nice addition. Highly recommend.

I deducted one star because I requested the gold handles to match our other Kingfisher fly-tying tools, but I think this was a packaging/labeling error, since the bag itself was labeled as the gold color. Otherwise, this would be a 5-star review. The GOOD: Look at those "fat-finger" sized loops to easily grip and position the clamp with one hand - particularly handy when you're in the middle of tying or messing with a glue or sealant and just need to hold something out of the way in a hurry. The clamp mechanism is easy to use, both to clamp and unclamp with one hand, and it doesn't make you strain to do it. The beak part has both serrations AND flat areas to clamp your items, which is very nice. The small size makes this tool very nimble and handy in use, and the enameled handle would be easy to keep clean. It even has a small pin towards the top of the handle part (behind the hinge area) that when the handles are open, you could use it to gently pop through over-coatings that can happen with hooks and lures that'll close the eye part. The BAD: Wrong color. It'll be the mismatched tool in the kit, but that doesn't detract from functionality, unless you want a fully bare metal handle.I think that if you're into fly-tying or other small, precision hobbies, you'd be happy to add a tool like this to your kit.

I've used these for decades (usually used medical ones) for holding electronics components securely, but easily removably. But my fingers always get stuck in the traditional sized hemostat handles, esp the middle two, which are used for fine adjustments and to release. These have PLENTY of room for both my index, and middle two thru the others, and make it great to hold, rather than the 'have to shake my hand to get my thumb out' of the smaller ones. These seem a bit thin, so may not be long term durable, but it also means they can get into small spaces better, and take up less space in a drawer. No information about where they are made (easy to guess, though?) and, in comparison to a set of hemostats I got in the 70s (medical surplus), they are not as well finished (some grinding marks still visible) but I think is more than adequate to the expected tasks. The hinge arrived with some lubricant on it - a nice touch, to prevent rust? The back half of the pliers end is grooved; the tips ends (about half way of each) is smooth...so won't leave marks on things grabbed by the tips.FWIW, they also have a tiny little 'stabbing pin' behind the hinge - I suppose for fly fishing or leather hole poking, but glad I noticed it before it bit me.This is just visible in the first two photos, but not mentioned in the text.I like the blue color, too - makes them easier to spot in a toolbox.I'd say a good value, esp for the Big Handed. :)

Update 1/17/25:I contacted the seller directly to see if I can exchange the product for a larger size since Amazon did not have enough inventory. It has been 4 days without a response. I am taking off a star for lack of customer service. As a veterinarian who likes to fish on occasion, I have been using a needle nose plier and an old hemostat to pull hooks and fix flies. Then I saw these fat finger hemostat and had to try them out. I must say, I am pretty impressed by this Kingfisher hemostat. I may order a few more to keep one on my vest and one in the box. The tolerances are tight. There is no play when open and when closed, the tips meet without a gap. There is a slight bow in the middle of the clamp area which may be an issue if you are actually using it as a hemostat, but that is not what this tool is for. For a great design that is executed well, I give this product 5/5 stars. I ordered a 5 inch hemostat, but realized they also have a 6 inch as well. I will contact the seller to see if I could exchange the size to a 6 inch. Hope their CS is also 5 stars!
