I've had two of these now. They work fine for a while, and then just quit. No error messages, no indication, it just won't scan anymore. Really angry. Another $500 flushed down the toilet with this scanner. Don't buy.

This thing is worth every penny if you are scanning a lot of documents wider than Letter size (wider than 8-1/2 inches). The ADF is a lifesaver. The pickup rollers are dependable and the scanning cameras yield good results. Download the latest drivers and follow the instructions.

I unboxed the scanner and the connection to my computer was straightforward. Physically setting up the scanner involved the removal of a shipping card and snaping in a feed tray. Easy Peasy. I had some trouble with the setup, which required a visit to their website, but a chat with Andy resolved all my issues and the scanner is now working fine. The scanner is quick, accurate and one touch. My last scanner was a Xerox flatbed with ADF that could only feed a width of 8.5 inches and this one can run 11 inches, which means I can now scan 11x17 inch documents whereas the last one could not: a feature very nice for an engineering office. Moreover, the scanner's footprint is small enough that it fits nicely in the cabinet space occupied by my last scanner, which is unusual for a "large" format scanner. I've just put it in service, so I can't comment on durability, but as of today I would gladly purchase this scanner again.

UPDATE: For a $500 scanner, I don't think I'm asking too much to have better installation instructions. They send you to a website with a list of downloads and that's it. There are no instructions beyond that. No, "Do this first, then this, etc." Very frustrating. It's 2024 and some products aren't compatible with Mac.Thankfully, I do have a Windows computer, but this is just crazy.

Once upon a time, I had a multifunction color printer that included a scanner. Unfortunately, the print function stopped working and all it could do was scan documents. I replaced the printer with one that did not include a scan function and used the old one as a scanner until that also stopped working. I needed a new scanner, but not a new printer. This seemed like a good solution. In the box, I found the scanner, ADF document feeder, power cable, USB cable, getting started instructions, a cleaning cloth, and a calibration card. The instructions sent me to a website to download drivers and manuals. The getting started instructions covered everything I needed to get started except the removal of a protective card inside the scanner. I accidentally discovered this while trying to figure out why the scanner would not recognize that there was a document in the feeder. Once this was removed, the scanner functioned properly. As a quick test, I inserted a letter-sized piece of junk mail I had received and followed the directions for scanning using the default settings (300 dpi, pdf). The scan was quite good and in color. What impressed me was that it scanned both sides of the document at the same time. It did not need to scan one side, then pull the page back side to scan the back the way my printer used to do. Both sides of the page were scanned in just a few seconds.Next, I switched to 600 dpi. It took longer to scan and process the document, but I noticed little change in scan quality. The third test was to set it to 300 dpi, docx. The scan took no longer than the first test. I opened the file in MS Word and found that it was fully editable. The OCR function worked satisfactorily although there were a couple of minor errors. There was a missing space and an inserted apostrophe that didn’t belong. One major error was that the barcode on the page did not scan correctly. I don’t currently have much use for scanning barcodes, but barcode recognition is supposed to be a feature of this scanner. Finally, the company logo was missing from the scanner document. The final test was to scan an image. The scanner handled this efficiently. The colors appeared correct, and the image was sharp. I had it store the image as a .jpg, but could have output it to .bmp, .tiff, or .png.The scanner’s footprint is small, so it doesn’t take up a lot of desk space. However, the USB cable is only 48” and not quite long enough to reach the spot where I wanted to place the scanner. This highlights the one feature this scanner is lacking. It does not support Wi-Fi connectivity which is something I would expect at this price point. While this is a nice scanner with lots of features that does a good job, it lacks one essential feature (Wi-Fi) and is higher priced than many similar scanners sold on Amazon.
