4.5 stars. Great sound quality, much fuller than the original on my '65 Jazzmaster. (Especially the lows) Just be aware that it is very high output and may over power something different. Of course, if you get the matching one too, they should balance perfectly. The outputs are stated on the Seymour Duncan website.

This is the 5th bridge pickup I have bought for this Jazzmaster and it's the one for me. I have a 92 MIJ Fender. I wasn't crazy about the default pickups, so I had a custom wound one made up by a larger name and while it was good, it had mic feedback and just wasn't quite right. I tried the Duncan SJM 1. Good, but kind of bright and not quite hot enough. I even mounted a Dimarzio Super Distortion into a Jazzmaster ring and while that got me some gain, I wasn't crazy about how it blended with the neck pickup that I actually liked and will not change (SJM 1n). I had to do some widening of the holes on the pickup cover just to give it the look of a normal one, but this thing rocks. It will hum though as it's really really hot for a single coil. So if you have a heavily shielded guitar, this is for you. If you don't, you may want to consider it because this pickup is worth it. FYI, you can't see from the picture, but it's actually a pretty tall pickup. The magnets drop down below the housing quite a bit. You'll want some foam below it to give it some lift and to keep it in place if you don't already. It probably requires a bit more gain than most to get into a good rock distortion or overdrive, but once you're there, it's great. I use this on a boosted JCM 800 with great amounts of joy.
