SMB-5D

Hotter pickup. Recommended for classic rock, heavy rock, funk, punk, R&B, and metal.

This hum-canceling pickup offers a balanced, highly musical tone contour with a richly articulated bottom, lots of midrange, and biting treble. It's got a nice, mild "bark" without being overly brash, and it's not at all harsh in the mid-range. The low end is full and strong without being mushy or foggy.

complete setup
Generally used together with STC-3M3 and -3M4 Tone Circuits for optimal tonal control.

basses
Replacement for 5-string Music Man StingRay basses up to 1992. For post-'92 5-string basses, see three-coil version.

STC-3M4

On board Tone Circuits for adding tremendous tonal versatility. Enables the player to add to subtract EQ at center frequencies voiced specifically for electric bass. They feature low noise, low distortion and high headroom. Useful for all musical styles and genres.

Three bands of active EQ, plus the proprietary Slap Switch. The lows are deep, clear, and tight. The mids range from ultra-smooth to punchy and all points in between. The treble control can produce a very wide, very usable response that is brilliant, yet smooth without any brittleness. Pulling up on the volume knob engages the proprietary Slap Switch, a special EQ contour made just for slap-style playing. See website for frequency response charts.

complete setup
Use together with Basslines' replacement pickup for Music Man bass. Includes all necessary mounting hardware: high-quality potentiometers on pre-wired harness; battery clip; stereo jack; and black anodized, knurled, dome-style knobs.

basses
For Music Man StingRay basses and other basses with a single passive pickup. Will not work with 3-coil pickup.

Physically it appears really solid built. I hope it improves the tone of my bass. The item was packed in bubble wrap inside a box. The item arrived on the last day of arrival date. Great communications with the seller. I will write a review of the product itself after installation on my new bass build.

I purchased the Squier version of the dimension bass. It was an returned item so I only paid $200 for it. Its a solid bass. Its has a fender bridge with great hardware with a fast neck.It has a 3 band eq with passive pickups and active electronics. I own a MIM JAZZ bass. Which I made active with Seymour duncans 2 band 18 volt preamp. I own 2 mid level ibanez basses. I also own a 5 string active stock fender jazz. I say all of that to say this. I was missing that musicman growl I heard so much about. I didnt want to buy the musicman $320 sub bass. So after being bored with the sound of the dimension. I bought this preamp. I only bought the preamp not the pickup. Ooooo when I tell you how it brought that bass to life. You will find it hard to believe. And thats with the stock squier pick up. Im going to purchase the humbuckle pickup this weekend. Im sure it will give me the sound of the $1800 musicman. I will only have invested a little more than $400. Buy the squier dimension bass. Around $350. Then spend another $220 for the preamp and pickup. Or $140 for the preamp only. Installation was easy. You will have to widen the cavity around the pickup if you replace it. Like I said mine sounds awesome with the pickup. You will be more than satisfied......
