This is the 3rd or 4th time I have needed one of the sockets in my 20+ year career as an Industrial Electrician. I believe in paying the price for quality tools, especially if they are made in the USA. This particular socket is heavy duty and made for use in a large impact. It should last me the rest of my career and whoever I pass it on to’s career as well.

Misleading description caused me to order the wrong one. Half-inch isn't the size of the penta opening it's the size of the drive. This is the large Penta that is available for less than $10

This is Standard Pentagon Head water meter socket, it measures 27/32 " from flat to point of the head. The cover on my meter box is manufactured by Trumbull Manufacturing in Youngstown, OH 44501. Phone: 800-677-1799. I was unable to determine how the manufacturer of the socket could say it was 13/16", as convention the size of a nut/bolt head is flat to flat. The cover manufacturer gives the head dimension from flat to point as 27/37". At Least the manufacturer clarified my confusion. Nice product, worked well!

I was skeptical that this would actually fit on my outside water valve cover, but it did and worked perfectly with a breaker bar. When I tried to turn the actual valve (not the cover which is what this tool was for), it was stuck. I was afraid to really put my back into turning it for fear of breaking the valve and ending up with a big mess outside. I eventually did and it finally broke free and I was able to turn off the water so I could replace my main water valve inside the house.

What can I say, SK has always made great quality tools. Bought this specialty socket to open the cover for the house water main. Works perfectly. Word of advice: always have the ability to shut to water off to your home. I had the water shutoff valve inside the home fail and start a deluge in my basement. The city didn't even return my calls when I asked them to help and turn off the main.
