I bought this as a previous reviewer stated this fits as a thin wall socket for installing the Equalizer Hitch ball onto the Weight Distribution hitch. Not the case. It does not fit. It is certainly an impact socket and if you have other use do not shy away, just does not fit my specific application.

I bought this based on the description of it being thin-walled and others' reports that it fit in their Equal-i-zer® hitch cavity to remove/install the trailer ball. I was disappointed to find I could barely engage the nut - certainly not enough engagement to remove it without slipping/rounding the nut. I didn't want to deal with sending it back and waiting any longer, so I took the socket to my grinder and tapered down the end. Now I get full engagement on the nut.I don't know if others' hitch heads had a bit more clearance, but it wasn't going to fit mine without modification. The socket is great otherwise. I should have been more suspicious of the concept of a "thin-walled" IMPACT socket. I had originally ordered the Powerbuilt socket recommended on forums and elsewhere. Unfortunately, Amazon sent me the wrong size so I tried this one instead.

Worked perfectly for my application - installing a new trailer hitch ball in a tight opening.

I was a little skeptical that it would fit the 1 7/8” nut on the hitch ball as there is limited room around the nut. It fit like a glove and withstood the 430 ft/lbs of torque required to apply. It cost way way way less than the manufacturers socket and works perfectly.

Used this on a new 14K lb Equal-i-zer hitch. Just know that getting it to fit may require moving the square receiver sockets for the spring arm so it'll drop down (...just use a spring arm to move them).

Bought fir trailer hitch balls holding up to my 6-700 lb impact gun, I know there’s some it won’t fit but so far has been fitting every weight distribution hitch I and friends have sorry don’t have their brands to tell you. Regrets .. should have bought a six point but so far no problems. A little wear on the nuts with a 12 point from impacting 600+ ft lbs

Not as advertised. It was advertised as a 'thin wall' socket. Not true. Hunted down a socket from a friend in the end.
