Works great if you gently heat up the old drain with hair dryer to soften the old plumbers putty, avoiding over heating the surrounding area. Protect the area with a towel when using a wrench to turn. I think this tool is often returned because people use it and then they return it thinking they will not use it again. Not fair to Amazon and supplier.

I had a 20-year-old garden tub that had to be removed. The drain was the last thing that held it to the floor. I popped this tool in, threw a screwdriver through the hole and unscrewed it. It took some force to get it started, but once it's going it comes right out. About 10 revolutions later the tub was free.

This tool was the perfect size for me to remove the shower stopper. I was so easy to remove the old one.

This tool is cast aluminum, and it should hold up for a lifetime of incidental use. I use it to reseal tub drains, and it has never failed me.

I had a tight fitting drain in my tub and couldn't get it out. For the price im keeping it as who knows. Might end up needing it again. Great value for the money and easy to use.
