I actually does what it says it will do! take the factory one out, install this one and within 8 hours we had a full ice bin again!! Watch a you tube video, or a couple, and you will get some great insight on how to install. (Hint: I did have to remove the door to get in there to get to the screws and plug)

We bought a brand new Whirlpool fridge when we bought our house. The icemaker lasted only 3.5 years. Learned how to troubleshoot it (thanks you tube!), and determined I needed a replacement. This is the part number I found, and it fits perfectly.Quick advice to anyone with a bottom drawer freezer; go through the hassle of removing the drawer. Otherwise you can't easily reach the screws to R&R the icemaker. Other than that hassle it's a quick and simple DIY repair.

When it arrived , We weren’t sure if this was the right replacement for our freezer but it was. It fit right in and I didn’t even hear any swear words from hubby during installation! lol !

The package stated it was made in the USA! Original Viking unit was made in China. Unit appeared to be identical to our original Viking French door refrigerator ice maker. The only difference was a mounting bracket it came with. This one came with a plastic bracket but ours used a metal bracket. That was good, because in the picture you can see the bracket it came with did not survive the shipping process. I just tossed that bracket and using the metal bracket, I installed it. I tossed the first loads of ice and we are now in business. First one lasted 12 years; we will see if this one can match that.
