Pretty nice little sleeping pad. Super lightweight and compact if you are trying to pack small and light. Very easy to get setup and self-inflates *most* of the way by itself and pretty quickly. It's fairly comfortable as well. The reason for 3 stars instead of 5 is the price. For what it is, I feel like it should be about half the price of what it is. At just under $75, it seems pretty darn expensive.

Choosing the right sleeping pad can make or break your camping experience. A good pad provides insulation from the cold ground and cushions your body for a comfortable night's sleep. Today, I'm reviewing the Whispering Winds Four Season Self Inflating Sleeping Pad.Product Overview:The Sleeping Pad is a self-inflating pad designed for four-season use. The pad features a durable construction and a comfortable sleeping surface with a good insulation value. It also includes an easy-to-use inflation/deflation valve. The pad is a little too heavy and bulky for backpacking, but is great for car camping or overlanding.Performance:I tested the Sleeping Pad this weekend. The pad inflated quickly and easily, and it stayed inflated throughout the night. I added some air to the pad to adjust it to my liking. You can use your breath or a pump. I tried both ways and the pump was my preferred method. The sleeping surface was comfortable, and I didn't feel any pressure points. With an R value of 5.8 the pad also provided good insulation from the cold ground, keeping me warm even as the temperature dropped at night. The pad came rolled up with 2 elastic straps that are loose (not connected to the pad) so I feel like these may get lost in the future. I would have preferred these be sewn into the pad.Pros:Durable constructionComfortable sleeping surfaceGood insulationEasy to inflate and deflateGreat insulation value for the priceCons:A bit heavy and bulky to pack so not great for backpacking.

I took this sleeping pad out on a cool night to test it for comfort, warmth and ease of use. It inflated easily once unrolled and maintained a good loft once I was on it and it did do a fairly good job block my body from the ground temperature though I think a tarp or some other thick material would assist in this further. I did like the fact that it wasn't overly large and I was about to fit it in either of my backpacks. Overall I have no complaints and will likely consider purchasing a second one.

Used this last week and I’m very impressed! More so than I thought I would be. I have 2 slipped disc so I watch what I sleep on because I won’t be able to walk the next day if I sleep on something that hurts my back.I was thinking this was just a foam pad which is more than that. You open the cap that has a valve which allows air inside it. This and the foam pad is what makes this so comfortable. Not sure what foam pad they use but it’s way more comfortable than I thought it would be. I slept on the ground and didn’t touch the ground while laying on it. I was kinda worried about that because this pad is not thick. Putting it up you remove the cap and push the valve under the cap which allow the air to come out.Only cons which isn’t really a con just know what you buy this pad for. This pad isn’t that small or lightweight so don’t use this for backpacking. It’s perfect for camping and doesn’t take up much room. Just don’t expect to put this in your backpack and go backpacking. This pad isn’t made for that kinda thing. I guess you could do that but it’s not the ideal pad for that.

More comfortable than sleeping on the ground. Nice and thick compared to the Klymit backpacking stuff, but takes up more space too.

I wanted a back seat sleeping solution for my bug-out kit. I tried one of those special air mattresses designed for truck back seats but it's too thick and there is not enough room left to sit up without hitting my head. This thin mat turned out to be a really good solution. It's much easier to inflate than an air mattress, and it can be folded after it's inflated. I can fold the ends up so my head and feet are padded from the doors or I can fold the head end under the mat to elevate my head. The inflation check valve is pretty ingenious, the way it just flips around to keep air in, or let it out. The mattress does a good job of partially inflating itself when I open the valve and it just takes a few deep lungfuls of extra air to get the firmness I like. It's nothing like filling up an old style air mattress that leaves you feeling dizzy from all the huffing and puffing. When It's time to put the mattress away, I flip the check valve around so it only lets air out and not back in, then roll the mat from the foot end, keeping each roll as tight as possible. When I have it rolled all the way up and squeeze out as much air as possible, I unroll it all the way back out. Now it's real easy to fold it taco style and roll it up again, squeezing tight as I go . This makes it very compact so it fits easy in the storage bag.If I'm lucky, I'll never need to use this mat, but next time a hurricane is heading my way and I have to evacuate, I will be glad I got this.
