I was really excited to find this product as I needed a topper on the Jackknife sofa in my RV. I think this product would be good for those who camp and sleep in a tent or on the ground, but it didn't do the job for my use. This product does not inflate at all and it took me a while to return it as I could not get it back into the box that came in and had to wait to get a box big enough to return it. And while I am a few days outside the window. I'm hoping the seller gives me a refund.

This sleeping mat barely self-inflated. I could almost not even notice. Maybe it will do better the next time I try. Maybe I could try using a small pump, but that defeats the premise.

Pros:Thick materialcomfortableintegrated pillowinsulatedCons:the "self inflating" does not really work unless you place it in the sun... and it is warm out.the inflation port for is the screw type, like a therm-a-rest, but larger. This is a glamping or car camping pad, not backpacking; it is a bit heavy an bulky. For what it is intended for, it is a good pad. The material is thick and feels rugged, the pad is insulated, and about 2½-3" thick. The "self inflating" is a memory foam type of material on the inside which need to be warmer to expand. I have a Therm-a-Rest BaseCamp AF which is self inflating and it needs to also be warm to inflate, this is an issue with this design. My other gripe is that it has a screw top type of inflation port that makes it difficult to attach an inflator to. I'm not a big fan of this style of receptacle. This pad will be accompanying us on our car camping trips... I think my wife has claimed it as hers.

I’ve a similar self-inflating mat by a premium camping brand. The insulated sleep surface of that other mat measures 77 inches (195.6cm) long, 25 inches (63.5cm) wide, and 2.0 inches (5cm) thick, and has an R-6 insulation rating. The insulated sleep surface of this mat is 60 inches (~152.4cm) long, 26 inches (~660cm) wide, and the same 2.0 inches thick. But this mat adds a pillow section, making the combined length 72 inches (~183cm), by my measure. That other R-6 mat has kept me comfortable to -5ºF (-20ºC), when matched with a 20ºF sleeping bag covered by a 0ºF camping quilt. I haven’t tested this R-5 mat to that extreme — just to 25ºF, so far — but my early guess is that it will serve to at least 5ºF when combined with the same sleeping bag and quilt. This mat is as comfortable as that other mat — actually a tad more so due to its more lush upper material. Plus, it has a pillow, but more on that in a bit. There’s one aspect of this mat that I much prefer to that other, more expensive mat: This mat has a grid of hundreds of little grippy dots on its bottom side, which keep it from sliding around on my tent floor as I roll from side to side during the night under my camping quilt. If there’s a downside to this mat compared to that other mat, it’s that, at 4.4 pounds (~2.0 kilograms), this mat weighs a pound more. That other mat is not lightweight. Certainly not as light as most gram-counting backpackers prefer. But I bike-pack, so the bike bears that extra pound. I don’t feel it, until I’m pedaling the overloaded bike up steep inclines. Then, of course, I do, but I gladly endure a bit more weight in exchange for the comfort and warmth ultra-light mats can’t provide.About that pillow: It’s not insulated, so I tuck it under the head end of insulated sleep surface of this mat. Thermal problem solved. I’m just 69 inches tall, so the remaining 60 inches of insulated sleep surface is enough for me, given that I’m a side sleeper and prefer the fetal position anyway. For what it’s worth, that other self-inflating mat did not self inflate fully the first time I used it. I had to help it that first outing, but the second time I used it, I only had to top it off with three breaths to achieve the firmness I desired. This mat self inflated fully the first time out, subject to the same three breaths to get it taut. But the pillow is not at all self-inflating. That took about 10 breaths to plump up to the desired height. This mat also has snaps along both sides for attaching another mat to accommodate couples. I suppose you could even attach three or more, if you were so inclined. My other self-inflating mat does not include that feature.Oh, and it was raining the day I took the accompanying photos. That’s moisture you see, not stains. So, which mat will my bike be carrying in the future? I’m still working that out, which says a lot for this mat ... giving that its current price is less than a third of what I paid for that other premium mat. This mat has a pillow, insulated or not, and I especially like all those grippy dots.Hope this helps. Clear skies!

I ordered this for camping trips and it is definitely easy to pack up and carry, but for those expert hikers it seemed a little heavy for it's size. It weighs a little over 4 lbs in all with the carrying bag and elastic straps. The suede material is nice but it grabs pretty much everything that it comes into contact with and it is hard to clean off. The back side has a material that grabs the surface so that helps keep it from sliding all over the place. The pillow inflated with 7 of my breaths so right where it says. but the valve is the pinch type which sucks a bit when you deflate it. The self-inflate is kind of weird as you just open the valve and let it inflate and then close it. To deflate you just roll it up with the valve open and close it up when you are done.It is surprisingly comfortable to be so small and even with me at 210 lbs and 6'1" other than my feet hanging off I could turn on my side and it fit me. The edges have snaps so you could connect more than one of these together. What I really liked about this is that you just roll is straight up - no folding or anything and then it fits perfectly in the bag. Too often these are like some type of mind game to get it to go back into the container it is supposed to fit in.Overall, I like this mattress but for those over 6' you might want to get one slightly larger. The suede is comfortable but maybe not the best idea for outside in the woods with grass and wood chips. I think if you are shorter and not a long distance hiker looking at every ounce you would really like this mattress. I give it 3.5 stars.

Used this when my family and I went camping and it does add comfort and is easy to roll up.
