This is very nice quality and should aid me in getting a new plug on my trailer and troubleshooting if necessary. I wish they would give accurate dimensions in the description. The ones in the technical details are off as well. This box measure 6.5" in length exclusive of the mounting tabs. It is 3.25" wide and 2.25" high. I'm glad it is smaller than they said-- it would have been excessively large. It would be nice if it were a bit more amenable to attachment with nylon ties, but should be easy to drill some extra holes in the tabs. Overall I like this product.Update: I was able to use nylon ties to fasten the unit to the trailer tongue and avoid drilling the tongue. It was only necessary to place it a bit askew. Please note the the lid is not reversible. It will only go one way. You can't flip it end for end or the screws will miss the holes and seem to be stripping. Took me about five minute to figure that one out. I hope what a recent reviewer said about rusting fasteners is not true. We'll see.

Okay, so it's a little black box, so what? This is the heart of a trailer wiring harness and differentiates between having dependable trailer lighting and having lights that work haphazardly at best. I mounted this junction box as close to the center of my utility trailer as possible. This allowed me to have as short a wire run to each light as possible. Since my trailer has brakes, I needed a five wire harness and felt it would be better to use a seven wire plug so I wouldn't need to carry an extra adapter with me which, of course, would probably be misplaced when I needed it.I then felt that I may as well install back up lights and auxiliary power while I was at it and have the total package. This junction box isn't a miracle worker, but it has everything necessary to have a weather tight enclosure to ensure that your wiring connections won't get corroded and fail at the worst time. I also used terminals with heat shrink built in to make sure no moisture was going to get into my connections. It's true that you need other materials besides this box, but consider this the foundation or heart of your trailer wiring package.

OK, I have purchased 2 of these items. For the price, you can't beat them.Pros:They are very utilitarian. I have put one on my trailer to organize lights and am about to install a second on my truck to make adding additional wiring easier. They are labeled, using a 7 pin wiring standard. (Here's the trick, there is not a single 7 pin standard (EVEN in the US))They are large enough to handle multiple wired to connect to a single pole and the box is big enough to handle the wiring to fit.Cons:They are not waterproof, water resistant, yes. So plan accordingly. If you are wiring a 6 pin or 4 pin trailer, or if your trailer follows an alternate standard. You are going to have to do some WORK. If you are buying this product you NEED!!!! a basic working knowledge of wiring and electricity. No, you don't need to be an expert, but if you don't know how to use a multimeter, plan on spending some quality time on Youtube or wherever gaining a basic knowledge. For the price, I would highly recommend these, they work well. I have purchased two and am very pleased with both.

I bought this box with other associated components to upgrade the wiring on a horse trailer. First the good. The box came with seven studs for the wires, and plenty of rubber boots and two built in cable connectors which were a great help in securing the 7 pin connector cable I used. Second, the not so good. The seven studs which are 10-32 thread, came with only one nut per stud. The studs are mounted into the plastic base of the box and had a little wobble, I felt it best to use the factory nuts supplied to tighten down and secure the studs. So I went to the hardware store and bought seven 10-32 nuts and flat washers. I also bought ringed terminal connectors for my wires. Blue ones for 16 and 14 AWG wires and Yellow for 12 AWG wires. The ring terminals provide a good clean professional look and prevents wires from touching each other and shorting out. So I put the washer on the factory nut, followed by the ring terminal connector and finally the 10-32 nut.and tightened. You may think the washers were over kill but I wanted maximum contact surface area for my wires as possible. And lastly, The two screws that hold the lid on the box are recessed slightly below the top. So I used duct seal. Its a grey clay like material used by electricians to seal around electrical service entrance components and holds up to all types of weather hot or cold. So in conclusion, I liked the box, but for what the asking price was I think eight more nuts and washers could have been included. Ring terminal connectors would have got you 6 stars!

Seems useable. I will be using this on my tow vehicle rather than a trailer. For my needs I need three different hook up location on my truck. One under the bumper and two different types of connections in the bed in two locations. I will be using this to hook those up to the OEM wires under the bed.The reason I give it 4 stars is the picture shows colors on the studs. What I received has the words molded into the plastic at the base of the studs. It's still just as usable but just not as advertised and those will be covered once terminals are installed.Got it installed. other than the posts inside a little close to the studs they are next to and the one right inside one of the end openings making it a little harder to get the wires in and on those studs.seems like it is going to work well. Getting as many wires in there and hooked up (some studs have 5 wires) should mean that a normal install with two or three wires on a stud should work perfectly. I guess in my case not using the assigned studs and using a custom color code made it actually better that the studs don't have colors. The fact that I mounted it under the bed of my truck means I don't have to worry about the sun but if it's on the tong of a trailer I may wonder about it getting bridle over time.
