I already had a CAMVATE universal cage, which is three-sided. I wanted a four-sided one, and so bought this one. It's perfect, giving me a double-handles and a secure grip. Plus more protection for my camera. I have three cameras, and it can be adjusted for all of them easily and fairly quickly. I am pleased with my purchase but it's specific for my needs. It's strongly made, and my camera is secure.

Just tested this rig on a video job and paired with the camvate QR arca swiss mount it's just awesome. Sturdy and with a lot of mounting points. When packed down it takes up almost no space in the camera bag. I was so happy I went with this rig and for the price it's just a steal. Just ordered a wood side handle and I will have a great rig for run and gun jobs. I also have multiple cameras and it just fits them all. Perfect! Definitely recommended.

Good, sturdy quality and strong build and universal to use differ camera body. Not all Camvate products available on amazon. Need do a mix with other branches that give some compatibility problems, mainly with the holes not corresponding. When look for multi camera use, this the way to go.

This was really my first time building a rig around one of my cameras and I browsed a lot of choices before settling on this. This thing is all aluminum parts, all the holes are threaded so you can put it together any way you want. I was able to completely customize this for my needs. I was even able to shift things left or right to get a nice even balance so i can focus on my camera work and not worry so much about leveling my shot to the horizon. All the extra 1/4-20 holes made it easy to find places to add cold shoes and other mounts.

For the price this is pretty good. My biggest complaint it that most of the threaded holes needed to be “cleaned” out. Like using socket wrench torque on a bolt to allow typical attachments to thread in with more normal force. It’s definitely not higher end. But it works. And once assembled and set up does what it is supposed to.

I've had my Sony A7sii for a while..... (can't seem to part with the old reliable), and with its age came much difficulty finding a cage that would fit it. This cage isn't intended to fit the camera like a glove - it's obviously more versatile and generalized, but it works beautifully! I am highly impressed with the quality of material and construction and would highly recommend it!

Using with a Panasonic Lumix G85, EF to m43 adapter, and Canon EF lenses. Due to barrel size of the adapter and lenses, it barely allows the lens to mount. Like less than 1mm clearance. Definitely not a negative of this cage, but worth noting if you plan to to use with the g85 and lens adapters.Overall for the price you can't beat it for what you get. Solid construction and overall great!

I ended up buying this due to "needing" it for a immediate project, and I had exhausted funds on other pieces of equipment, and I gotta say- I love this thing.Sure, its not as easy to attach as most of the one piece cages, but it can also be taken apart if you say, only need the top extender to attach the handle or something. The side bar adds a bit to the dimension of it (opposed to specifically designed cages for whatever camera you're using) but obviously no universal cage is going to fit your camera perfectly, and they have to make those kinds of design decisions in order to fit as many cameras as possible.I was planning on buying this cage for "now" and upgrading somewhere down the line, but I think I'm just going to continue to use this one as it is incredibly sturdy (all metal!) and is fufilling exactly what I need it to do!I took one star off for "quality of material" simply because the entire handle is made of metal, and in these cold midwest winters it makes it IMPOSSIBLE to hold. This of course isn't the ONLY metal handle out there, but it would have been nice to see some padding or something. The good news is that there are plenty of 3rd party handles from places like SmallRig that will fit right onto this! So once I make the upgrade of a "sturdier" handle I'll be all set!

What you see is what you get. A sturdy cage with few complications.I wish the bolts were the type where i can just hand tighten instead of requiring an allen-key.Other than that, its a good product.

I purchased this product and was impressed by the build quality. However, after just playing around with it and attaching my camera, light, and mic, the screw on the camera and handle seemed to just loosen up too easily. I was also disappointed that there was no cold shoe on the top or sides of the front of the handle. There is an area available farther back on the handle where you'd grip, but that ruined the point of the handle for me.

So I was initially hesistant to buy this product since there were no reviews and the price seemed a lot lower. The cage came in great packaging, the handle separate and the C brace assembled along with an extra screw. The cage has a little weight to it and feels solid. Lots of mounting options which is nice. I put it on my gh5 and I have attached some pictures. It feels tight at the moment so I hope the screws stay like that but time will tell. I havent used it to film yet.My concerns are the quality of the screws and how long this will last. Also, I hope this doesnt put added stress on the camera hot shoe. There are other cages but the extra handles seem unnecessary and I hate the fact that other brands such as Smallrig have only 1 point of contact, the base. (EDIT: they have similar one to this product as well but its an extra 40 bucks...) Upon review it seems to be put low amounts of pressure on the hotshoe and the screws seem decent. (Atleast I hope that’s the case, I’m no expert)Honestly, it seems like a great small profile rig for camera. The left pole acts as a handle so that’s very convenient. The top handle is lovely. Honestly I would hold a camera with both hands while using the cage as to put as little pressure as possible and recommend using the camera neck strap for safety (but that’s just me) It seems to do the job so I figured a 5 star rating seems appropriate at the moment.
