I have a pre-covid ash body monoprice TL, and a monoprice gold top, both are superb guitars, they come with gig bags. I have been watching the price of the boardwalk and saw this transparent red for $309 Canadian, the lowest price ever. On arrival the box looked pretty beat up, inside was the gig bag with guitar and foam bag inside. The guitar looked beautiful, finish was great, unfortunately when I realized the neck was cracked and the fingerboard had separated at the nut I put it back in the bag and box and sent it back. My thanks to Amazon for being so good about this, if I had the chance to buy another at this price I would. My friend said it could be that the truss rod was cranked too tight, or just shipping from wherever.

Heavy, large body guitar. I’m used to strat style. But I really like this guitar . It’s down right beautiful . Pkays nice our of the box . Wasn’t able to play for about a month . When I picked it up again it was still in tune with the original strings . I’m very happy with my purchase and recommend it hihgly for a budget priced guitar. This is my second Indio and I’m considering another Cali-strat guitar. Indio makes excellent guitars .

Purchsed from Amazon Used, so I can't be sure if it left the factory this way or if a previous buyer messed it up trying to lower the action.. Guitar was unplayable until I made a very major truss rod adjustment. Still had some strings buzz. Pickup, input jack or control might have been intermittent, but I returned the item without testing further.

I own many guitars, from cheap to really expensive. One of my absolute favorites is a white Indio/Monoprice strat. So I was looking forward to trying this out. It was exactly what I was hoping for. It is solid, easy to play, looks nice. A few not so perfect parts, (the f-holes are a little rough looking) but overall it was exactly what I was expecting. However, there were pretty significant cracks along the bottom of the top of the guitar, enough that the paint/lacquer/whatever was gone down to the wood. The box was in ok condition and it was packed inside its gig bag which is pretty padded. So I thought that was unfortunate and requested a return/exchange for another one. Got the second one and again it was an even larger crack on the front but not chipped away like the first. Then there was another crack on the side by the jack. This one had what I am assuming is the styrofoam wrapper they wrap it in inside the crack, but not 100% sure. Anyway, the top at least is crack in a way that makes me think the top would gradually separate and get worse. So I'm not sure what is going on with the quality, but was disappointed I couldn't keep it. If it weren't for the cracks I would have been very happy. Again can't say enough great things about the white strat ones I have, love them! but this one I would stay away from, or maybe buy direct from monoprice and see if they can get you a decent one.

Out of the box, the finish is beautiful, needed tuning. It plays great, feels great. The only mod I'd do right now is replace the tuners. All in all awesome especially for the price.

This is a lower than 480p version of what an HD 1080p or higher version of a 335/38 should be. In other words, in addition to your time and labor, you, likely to spend at minimum of 100.00 over retail, tax, plus shipping (if any) to make it a playable guitar. Beyond that, the neck and body construction are very good. Pickups, tuners and fretwork suck, and the frets will need about an hour of intense work after measurements, to be right. My advice... buy the same like model from Thomann Music, pay the shipping, and you'll still have a much better guitar for less cash, needing virtually no work at your end to play right.

I watched a few videos and read about Monoprice Boardwalk and for a budget 335 lookalike it is pretty impressive. The F hole binding needed some scraping, no biggee, and the guitar looks and feels great. I tried and returned a couple of other budget 335's. Took a little set up to lower the action and truss rod adjustment, no buzz, no high frets and they are pretty well polished from the factory. Some sharp fret sprout but I have the tools to deal with that. Pickups are a little 'muddy' but I have a set of Alnico 2 humbuckers to install, if not good I have a set of Alnico 5's to put in.

I'm giving this mostly 5 stars because Amazon let me return it. Mine came missing the pickguard. The electronics were not top notch. The 3 way switch cut in and out. The volumes on both pickups would shut off at minus 5 rolling back from ten. Go for the Grote!
