The instructions are not written well at all, and needs a major update. However, once you are able to get it together, it looks great and works well.Tips for making popcorn.. do not follow their instructions as you will end up with a lot of unpopped kernals.Turn on the heaters and the stir mechanism.Add enough oil so that it covers the bottom and the kernals can float a bit in them.Add 3-4 kernals and wait for them to pop. After they pop, add 1/2 to 1 cup of kernals.Flip the kettle several times during popping so you don't jam the stir mechanism.

This popcorn popper is great for parties and get togethers. It adds a little nostalgia. Everything fits below in the little cabinet and I love this feature. It’s easy to operate and easy to fill. I appreciate have the measuring utensils. That helps with measuring the oil and the kernels. I wished that it got the popcorn a little more crispy feeling. The kettle may not be able to do that tho. I do recommend it.

The pot can do less than a 100 oz bucket of popcorn at a time. It's fine if you're doing little baggies of popcorn, but not enough to do buckets. The stirrer also likes to hold on to popped kernels and they end up burning up if you don't catch them in time. It's good for what it costs, but this is for occasional use only and a novelty, this is not for serious corn popping.

I gifted this popcorn machine to my father in law for Christmas/birthday. He turned 60 on December 30th, 2021, and invited the extended family to have a party on his farm. The Midway popcorn machine was easy to put together and looks absolutely beautiful. We purchased a bottle of Orville Redenbacher kernels, as well as their butter oil topper, and a bottle of buttery canola oil to actually pop the kernels in.Here’s how easy it is to use:1. Turn on the heat light.2. Pour 2Tbs of popping oil into the kettle.3. Flip the “Stir” switch on for a few seconds to evenly spread the oil around the kettle (then turn off).4. Turn on the kettle switch to begin heating the kettle.5. Wait for the oil to just barely smoke (leave the lid open to see).6. Pour 1/2 cup of kernels into the kettle, then close the kettle lid.7. Turn on the “Stir” switch.8. Wait a couple of minutes for the kernels to begin popping.9. When the kernels begin to slow down popping (1 pop every 2 seconds) turn off the Stir and Kettle switches.10. Open the door, then pull down on the kettle lever to empty the remaining popcorn into into the bin.11. Drizzle Orville butter topper over the popcorn in the bin, then shuffle the popcorn with the scooper (included) to coat the popcorn all over.12. Sprinkle salt from the salt shaker (included) and shuffle. As the kernels start popping after a few minutes of heating, the popcorn will pop up and spill itself out of the kettle and into the main bin.The manual and sticker on the door suggest 1Tbs of oil per 1/2 cup of kernels, but I found that 2Tbs was better. I wouldn’t pop any more than 1 whole cup of kernels at a time. I think technically the limit is 2 cups. But I found that buttering and salting the popcorn was more difficult with that much popcorn in the bin (it will overflow the bin with any more than that). Also, just a forewarning to people who may freak out; it’s totally normal for steam to come out of the kettle while the kernels are heating/popping. In fact, there was a lot of steam in the 20-ish cups I popped. The popcorn always came out fluffy, so don’t worry. After shutting all the switches off and letting the machine cool down (Kettle and Lamp) you can unplug the kettle from within the machine and lift it off it’s hinge to wash it.This was possibly the best gift I’ve ever given someone. Such a cool thing to have for a family who loves movies/short films. Or for a party barn/room in general.Happy popping :)

I went with this unit due to numerous poor reviews on the Nostalgia brand related to motor burn out and thought this was a safer option but I was mistaken. Poorly manufactured. Metal base frame is cracked/weld split at both sides at both corners, not enough bolts, washers, and nuts included, the holes for the handle and tray were not drilled in alignment, and the hinge for the glass door was not drilled properly so it will not attach. Unable to use the unit and cannot even test actual performance due to poor craftmanship.
