the price is much higher than most control panels, by 100 percent, I was expecting more... AT max volume it makes a weird hum. checked the wiring not the problem, but if I turn it down to half volume it disappears and works properly. the knobs that come with it are complete trash. the 2 smaller ones won't stay on no matter what I try.... the one for the volume works as expected at first but cames loose when I played for just an hour. and already lost it. I mean seriously for this price point I expect them to work better than my 5 dollar knobs. They are horrible. Kind of mad about that.. also, the wiring for it is very precise and had to lengthen the wire because the wires were too short by over 2 inches to short. overall, I think I should of went with something cheaper but it works so... I guess ill look for knobs that aren't trash, but if I had to buy it again, I would say pass as the price is not worth the quality of this. as it's too late to return it and would have to desolder everything. On top of that this thing took a long time to get here and USPS keep telling me it was coming every day till it arrived. Again for this price point, you can get cheaper less hassle and works better and isn't going through snail mail. I really feel scammed

Purchased to rewire an old bass. Product quality was good, but the wiring diagrams left something to be desired. Very unclear on wiring passive pickups and dealing with grounding issues.Would recommend to someone who has wiring knowledge and experience.

I had this installed in a kit ash bodied Jazz bass with a maple neck. The bass has a pair of Bartolini humbucking Jazz bass pickups that I have had for almost 30 years. They are not loud but Bartolini's had a reputation for being very high fidelity, flat response pickups. This preamp was like adding a hi-fi EQ to my bass. It won't make your bass into a huge, monster sounding animal, but will give you the choice of adding high end clarity and more low end to your instruments output. And, I thought the pull volume "slap" switch would just add clicky highs but it actually pulls some mids a little instead, which is much more usable. There are actually trim pots on the board that adjusts the midrange pull and a bass boost, but I have not messed with those yet. So, this won't make your bass into a Musicman Stingray(I had one and they are a GREAT, huge sounding bass), but it will give you some nice controls like the two pickup pan pot(my '82 Wal Custom bass has that), the pull mid EQ switch, and hi-fi style bass/treble EQ to your bass. You will probably have to get some routing done under the pickguard. My tech did everything from pulling the old stuff out and putting the new in for $90.00 total. A nice touch was the circuit card had velcro mounted to it already to stick in to the interior of the basses rout. I have one of the chrome Hipshot bass bridges on it.
