This is a great concept for a ladder but this particular one isn’t sturdy enough for a larger person. I went up about 8 ft to clean my gutters and it was a bit flimsy for me at 180 lbs. Although it definitely gets the job done you may want to consider your options.

OK, unboxing was simple, getting it up was not bad (note I had another ladder that was supposed to reach 12 feet but only did close to 9 feet - it was returned). Play with it a bit to get a handle on lowering it. My hint involves the add on extension feet for balance. there was a tiny piece of plastic keeping the aluminum bar from going down on one side, I just pushed it out of the way and the bolts went right in. Suggestion if having problem getting the rubber (rounded feet) on the bar, hold those feet under hot water a little and they fit a lot easier, be sure to push them on until you no longer can see the slots in the bar. So far this is a great ladder, lot better than the other one I had. Be safe.

- I chose this brand because it had good reviews and didn't have as many safety issues as reviewers of other brands reported. It does seem pretty well made. However, I'm writing this after just using it once.- There were no instructions for assembling the stabilizer bar and feet. However I was able to install them using a photo of the ladder from the Amazon page as a guide. Heating the plastic feet in hot water made them easier to install. But it did take a rubber mallet to get the outside feet fully in place.- Likewise there were no instructions for installing the hooks. I don't need them so that wasn't an issue. I assume that if I pop off the plastic pieces at the top of the ladder, I'd be able to figure out how to install the hooks. But that's an assumption.- While it seems reasonably sturdy it does flex a fair amount in use- I concur with others that the ladder weighs around 30lbs, not 23- I have the 15' model. I'm not a big guy and my concern before buying was whether I'd be strong enough to fully extend the ladder. I didn't have a problem but 15' was about the limit of my ability to extend. Not sure I could have managed a longer ladder without help.- Retracting requires sliding left & right rung locks at the same time. If you do that the section will close with a crash. Better is to unlock one lock then hold the vertical tube on that side while releasing the other lock. This will allow you to control the section as it comes down. And as many folks have noed, be careful of getting your fingers the way.

UPDATE - Seller let me return this due to our specific issues. Very grateful for good customer service. Chgd rating from 3 to 4 stars just for that. I believe this ladder would be ok for more able-bodied people than my older parents.Wish I could return this, but my return window closed a few days ago. Bought to access the loft in a tiny house we just built. Just opened ladder to try it and it’s pretty heavy and somewhat cumbersome. Then the rungs ended up being very far apart. Can’t really use.

My review is 100% positive on a great compact ladder but it has 2 flaws.1 - the tubes do NOT slide in and out in cold weather if snow melts on them and then closed - it freezes in locked position - unable to open and extend.2 - The top small cap that holds the top step in place is not very thick and it shattered in the cold snowy weather and WOW what a surprise was waiting. As soon as that cap broke and the top step was no longer held in place ALL the steps sipped out on the right side go the ladder!!! you read that right - I was at ground level so zero injury but I had I been up the ladder and hit the plastic cap with a tool and it shattered I would have been on the dirt - Im sending mine back - bought 4, only 1 broke but too spooked to clinb back up. With that said I do have another brand in green color that is shorter with a MIUCH fatter top pole and much thicker plastic fiberglass cap that is industrial tough - 3x the price by 100x the safety...
